Teacher education at the University of Dallas is constructed on a framework that includes strong disciplinary scholarship and sound professional preparation with specific emphasis given to reflection on the moral and ethical issues embedded in what it means to teach.
Degree programs and certification programs offered by the Department of Education are rooted in the mission of the University of Dallas and build from the strong foundation of the core curriculum. In addition, all programs offered are designed to achieve certification standards established by the Texas Education Agency and teaching requirements determined by the Texas Catholic Conference.
At the University of Dallas, learning to teach is a collaborative process among students, faculty, the Education Department, and practitioners in the field.

The University of Dallas Department of Education offers courses during the summer principally for individuals striving to meet the education requirements for teaching in Catholic Schools in Texas. While these courses are designed to serve teachers in the Catholic schools, they are open to anyone with at least a bachelor's degree who is interested in either a) seeking initial Catholic or Texas teacher certification or b) improving current teaching skills.
