• What is the Title IV code for UD (use this code for FAFSA)? 003651
• Which FAFSA should I complete? If you are a Constantin undergraduate student, and are applying for Fall 2012, Spring 2013, and Summer 2013, you should complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA.
• What is the deadline for FAFSA? There is no deadline for FAFSA! If you meet eligibility requirements, UD will award available funding upon receipt of your FAFSA and any additional documentation required.
There is, however, a PRIORITY deadline of March 1! If your information is complete as of this date (this includes any verification information) UD will ensure you will receive the maximum funding within the programs for which you may be eligible. All applications are processed as quickly as possible on a funding availability basis. Some programs, especially grant programs, have limited funding so the earlier UD receives your application along will all supporting documentation, the greater chance for you to receive funds from these particular programs.
• Is the FAFSA application the only application UD requires for applying for financial aid? No, UD does not require any additional application for financial aid. However, if you are applying for our Rome program, you will be required to complete an additional application to ensure proper awarding. (Attendance in the Rome semester usually occurs after the student has earned at least 30 credit hours at UD).
• What is Verification? If your FAFSA is selected for a process called verification, you will be required to provide a verification worksheet and a tax transcipt, or you may use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. You will not be required to send in your tax transcript if you use the Data Retrieval method. Your financial aid file is not complete unless all documentation is received by UD. Click here for Documents and Forms.
• Do I have to apply for financial aid each year? Yes, your eligibility for financial aid is not automatic each year. You should complete a new FAFSA each January for the following academic year. (The FAFSA is not available until January 1 each year.)
• I transferred from another university. Does my financial aid transfer to UD? No, your aid will not transfer. Your financial aid eligibility must be re-calculated at UD. You do not need to complete a NEW FAFSA, however, you must add our Title IV code to your existing FAFSA. You add our code to your current FAFSA by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov and adding 003651 to the list of schools to receive your information. You can contact FAFSA by calling 1.800.433.3243. Until our school code is added to your FAFSA, UD will not be able to determine your eligibility.
• What is an Award Letter? The award letter is the official notification of the types and amounts of financial aid offered you. If you are a new student at UD, you will receive an official award letter by US Mail. You must make sure the address UD has on file is correct so this award letter is not delayed. Once you are registered for classes at UD or you are a continuing student, you will receive an emailed award notification and you will be able to accept or decline your award online using BannerWeb.
• Do I need to complete any additional paperwork if I was offered loans, work study or any grants on my award letter? Yes, all loans require a MPN (Master Promissory Note) and entrance counseling form in order for your funds to be released to UD. Directions to complete the MPN and any other additional paperwork will be sent to you for completion. If you are a continuing student at UD, you must go to our website to complete all applications required.
• When will award letters be available either through US Mail or by BannerWeb? All new freshmen and transfer students will be mailed their original award packets beginning after March 1. Continuing students’ awards will be available for view on BannerWeb beginning in May.
• What if I have questions concerning any financial aid? You may contact a financial aid counselor at 800.628.6999 or 972.721.5266.
• Who is my financial aid counselor?
o New Freshmen and Transfers - Taryn Anderson taryn@udallas.edu
o Continuing Undergraduate students - Janet Trejo jtrejo@udallas.edu
• If I accepted all awards and turned in everything into FA, why isn’t my aid showing at Student Account Services for pending aid? You should contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine if there is a problem with the award.
• If I want to pay by using credit cards or want to sign up for the payment plan at UD, what do I do? You may contact the Student Account Services at 972.721.5144 for assistance.
• I have been offered Work Study program and have accepted it. How do I secure a job on campus? You must contact the Office of Human Resources for securing an on campus job. Being offered Work Study does not secure a job on campus.
• Why doesn’t my work study show as a payment on my Student Account Services statement? Work Study cannot be counted as a payment as this program is based on numbers of hours worked and income earned. Since the student has not worked, there is no way to guarantee payments. When determining the balance, you cannot use the work study award offered.
• Will my phone calls be returned within 24 hours even during the busy awarding season? Yes, your phone calls may be placed on voice mail during the busy awarding season, however, the policy of the Office of Financial Aid is to return all phone calls received within 24 hours of receiving them. Please make sure when you leave voicemails, we have correct numbers to contact you. We may return calls after 5 pm so please leave home, work, and cell numbers if possible.
• How do I report outside scholarships to UD? Once you receive notification of any outside scholarships, you must notify the Office of Financial Aid to ensure proper posting. UD may have to make changes to your existing financial aid awards in necessary. All outside scholarships are placed on our financial aid system, however, they will never show on the official award notification. Student Account Services will be able to access the information to assist you in determining your balance owed. |
