STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

Student employment is an integral part of the University of Dallas community that benefits both the students and the University. Almost every academic department and administrative office employs students in some capacity. Students also may work at various off-campus locations where they provide a great service to the Irving community. Along with the many positive aspects of being a student worker, there are challenges and concerns that require attention.

Studies have shown that balancing part-time employment while pursuing a college education can actually foster quality time management skills, enabling the student to achieve more academically. Part-time employment can also assist the student in developing valuable work skills and habits, money management practices and leadership qualities that will prove beneficial in the student's career search. Ultimately, being a student employee can be a rewarding lifetime experience.

There are three types of jobs available to students:

1. Work study
2. On-campus
3. Off-campus

Work Study
Jobs listed under work study require a federal or state work study award in order to apply for the jobs. For the most part, these are the jobs that are most readily available to students.

On-Campus
On-campus jobs are available to all students from the University. These jobs do not require federal or state work study and may require specialized skills. Please visit the On-Campus Job Board to view the jobs currently available. Updates are made regularly, so be sure to check back often.

Off-Campus
Off-campus jobs, once again, are available to all students from the University. For more information about these jobs, you may contact Career Services. To see the jobs available off-campus, please visit Career Services' website and online job board.

**Winter/Summer Employment**
There is a limited number of jobs available during the breaks. They are usually filled by a student worker currently working at the University who will be staying on/near campus throughout the break. These jobs are not typically funded by Work Study, therefore do not require a student to have Work Study. Each job will have specific dates that a student worker is needed for that department. Please visit the Winter/Summer Job Board to view the list of available jobs during the breaks only.

Work Study Wait List

For returning and new students:
If you do not have work study and you have completed a FAFSA, you may place yourself on the Work Study Wait List . At the begining of each semester, Financial Aid will redistribute work study funds from students who are not using the awards to students on the wait list. The secondary awards are based on first-come, first-served and financial need. If you have any questions on whether or not you would be eligible for funds if they become available, please contact your financial aid counselor.
