Scholarships and Financial Aid for Ph.D. Students
The Institute of Philosophic Studies awards to all admitted Ph.D. students full tuition scholarships for all course work that is required for the degree. Ordinarily, IPS students take three or four courses per semester, and at our present rate of tuition per credit hour ($720), this scholarship amounts to awards of $6480 or $8640 per semester.
In order to help students meet the foreign language requirements of the Ph.D., the Braniff Graduate School also grants full tuition scholarships for 18 hours of language study at the elementary and intermediate levels.
In addition, the IPS sometimes offers admitted students a living stipend of $2,000 in their first year of study and more usually $3,000 in their second and third years, with the hope that further support can be continued until they complete their course work in their fourth year and prepare to sit for their comprehensive exams. All these supplements are dependent upon the performance, whatever that might be, of our endowment funds.
