Privacy and Disclosure Policy

Pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, the following information is considered "Directory Information" and may be released to the public unless the student specifically requests in writing that it be withheld.

"Directory Information" includes a student's name, address, telephone number, email address, date and place of birth, major field of study, classification, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, weight and height of athletic team members, dates of attendance, enrollment status, degrees, honors, and awards received, and the most recent previous educational agency or institution attended. This is a category of information and does not refer to a publication known as a "directory."

If you would like this information withheld from the public, you must go in person to the Office of the Registrar by the 12th class day in the fall and spring semesters, or the 4th class day either summer term and sign a "Request to Prevent Disclosure of Directory Information."

However, please understand that this information may be provided to UD officials and other specified individuals as prescribed by law.

All undergraduate students are provided an e-mail account. Please be aware that a student's e-mail address is thus available to anyone with Internet access. The student's regular address and phone number, however, are not published on the Internet.

Although the Registrar's Office does not normally provide lists of student names or mailing labels to off-campus organizations, a federal law known as the "Solomon Amendment" requires that the University release student information to military recruiters upon written request once each semester per military service. Under the provisions of this law, the following information must be released to the military for students who have not requested non-disclosure of their directory information: name, address, telephone number, age, classification or degree awarded, and major. The University is not in violation of FERPA when this information is released to the military as required.

Graduation/Completion Rate - Student Right-to-Know Act

The University of Dallas is pleased to provide the following information regarding our institution's graduation/completion rates in compliance with the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. The rates reflect the graduation/completion status for the most recent cohort of full-time, first-time students who have had an opportunity to graduate within 150% or normal completion time, which is 6 years.

In the fall semester of 2004, 243 first-time, full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students entered the University of Dallas. After 6 years (as of August 31, 2010), 74% of these students had graduated from our institution. *

For the cohorts of students who entered the University in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 the average of the six-year graduation rates is 66%.

*While reviewing this information, please bear in mind:

The graduation/completion rate does not include students who left the school to serve
in the armed forces, on official church missions, or in the foreign service of the federal government. Students who died or were totally and permanently disabled are also excluded.
