The Admissions Office...

At UD, we strive to honestly represent the University so that prospective students and families know exactly what they are getting when they choose UD over other college options. Our office identifies, recruits, admits and enrolls students who possess the intellectual talent, mental discipline and imagination that will allow them most fully to benefit from our curriculum and contribute to the life of the university and society. Please use us as your resource as you discover what makes UD unique and distinctive and as you learn how we can satisfy what you are looking for in a college.

Meet the Admission Counselors

Visit us...

Hang out for a day. It's one thing for us to inform you about the accessibility of the faculty, or the diversity and expressiveness of the student population. It's another to sit and have a conversation with one of your future professors or spend the night in a residence hall with a current student. There's just something about being on a university's campus that brochures, websites or phone calls with admission counselors can never convey.

UD prides itself on the individuality of the campus visits we arrange. We strongly encourage high school students and transfer students to see our facilities, meet our students and learn about the many opportunities available to you at UD.

Applying for Admission...

Choosing a university is one of the most important decisions you'll make. If you're someone who knows how to evaluate and imagine, question and create, hope and care. You're fueled by ideas and information. Analysis and discussion. And you're looking for a place that will challenge you to reach the borders of your thinking...and go beyond them; it's time to apply UD.

Applying to UD is your opportunity to help us get to know you better -- personally as well as academically. Beyond your studies, what activities do you enjoy? How would you describe yourself? What are your plans for the future? Be creative and let your personality shine through. There is no such thing as a typical UD student. We're interested in finding out about the unique individual you are.

To complete the application process, please use one of the methods listed below. Each method is acceptable and receives equal consideration in the admissions process.

Scholarships and Awards...

In order to attract the caliber of students who value the tradition of quality education that UD offers, we award academic scholarships unrelated to financial need. The awards are based on superior academic ability and potential to contribute to the academic climate of the campus community.

Entering Freshmen applicants who meet the admissions application deadline are automatically considered for UD's Academic and Co-Curricular Achievement Awards. Students are selected on a competitive basis considering high school grade performance, course selection, rank-in-class, SAT or ACT results, writing ability, and co-curricular activities. The intensity of the competition each year depends on the size and quality of the freshman class applicant pool. UD currently offers academic scholarships ranging from $1,000 per year for four years to full-tuition per year for four years. Scholarships below the full-tuition level do not increase as tuition increases.

All students who apply for admission by the priority dates are reviewed automatically for scholarship eligibility. Except where noted, no separate application is required. These scholarships are awarded without regard to financial need and are gifts that do not have to be repaid. Recipients of our awards represent a wide range of economic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds.

Achievement-Based Award Programs

Refer a Student...

The Admissions Office encourages and welcomes student referrals from alumni, parents, and other friends of UD. People who have graduated from UD, or who have a significant relationship with the University, have an understanding for the kind of student who would succeed and flourish in our curriculum and in this community. Students, who are referred to UD by alumni or other friends of the University, tend to apply and enroll at a higher percentage than students who find UD through other means.

Please use this form to recommend prospective students who you think would benefit from an opportunity to attend UD. After receiving your referral, we will immediately send an introductory packet of information to that student, including a letter from the dean of admission, a view book, and campus visit options. If you prefer your referral to be kept anonymous, please indicate so in the "Additional Comments" section of the form.
