The Physics Department Award

• Amount: $1,000-$3,000
  
• Eligibility: High School Seniors and transfer students who have submitted an application for admission by January 15th and completed all scholarship application requirements by the scholarship deadline.

Deadline: February 15, 2008

Eligibility: High school seniors and transfer students who have applied to UD with an interest in physics may apply.

To Apply:

• Apply for admission to the University of Dallas
  
• Schedule an interview with the faculty of the Physics Department during an official campus visit; contact the Campus Visit Coordinator at 800.628.6999 to arrange your interview
  
• Submit a letter of recommendation from your high school or college physics teacher
  
• Take the online quiz
  
• Complete the Special Award Program Application and submit it prior to your campus visit and interview. Please be sure to mark the envelope or fax “Special Award Program Application."

Renewability Criteria:

This scholarship is renewable annually and is available to you during four consecutive school years, dependent upon your academic performance and the criteria stated below.

• Maintain full-time academic status each semester by earning at least twelve UD credit hours per fall and spring semester and earning at least twenty-seven UD credit hours per annual review period (defined below).
  
  
• Demonstrate a cumulative UD G.P.A. (grade point average) of at least 3.000 on the annual review date.
  
  
• Enroll in General Physics during your first year.
  
  
• Successfully complete the following courses in physics:
  - Physics 2311 and Physics 2111, Calculus-based Physics General Physics I with lab
  - Physics 2312 and Physics 2112, Calculus-based Physics General Physics II with lab
  - Physics 3320 and Physics 3120 Quantum Physics with lab
  - Physics 3363 Computational Physics
  Note: (Quantum Physics and Computational Physics are usually taken during the sophomore year. Substitutions may be approved by the Chairman.)
  

Scheduled Interview Dates:

Please sign up at least two weeks in advance of the October 26-27 and November 16-17 Odyssey Day programs or at least two weeks before a Personalized Visit.
