Chapter Leadership Structure
Each Chapter has a President (who represents the Chapter by reporting to the National Alumni Board) and a Committee of leaders whose general responsibilities include:
- To seek to build the activities of the Alumni Chapter and enhance the participation and support of the alumni (Constantin, Braniff and College of Business/Graduate School of Management) for the University and its current students.
- To sustain and develop the interest and understanding of the alumni in the University's mission, objectives, programs, issues and achievements.
- To provide leadership towards the goals of enhancing alumni gift participation and Annual Fund/Capital Campaign support of the University.
- To identify and seek to involve other alumni volunteers in the activities and life of the Chapter.
Seven Pillars of the Alumni Association
Each of the Seven 'Pillars' or sub-committees of the Chapter will have a Chairperson whose specific role is vital to Chapter leadership.
- University Support
The Chairperson for University Support serves as a liaison between the Alumni Association and the University in its fundraising and volunteer efforts. He/She recruits alumni volunteers for fundraisers, such as Phone-A-Thon (Annual Fund), and identifies possible volunteers for other specific fundraising efforts, including (but not limited to) the Grotto Project or the Maher Athletic Center Expansion.
- Spiritual
The Spiritual Chairperson works with the University staff to provide alumni with a connection to the spiritual life of the University. He/She will work directly with the Alumni Relations and Campus Ministry Offices. By organizing seasonal Masses, retreats, and other opportunities, such as 'UD Sunday' (organizing University representation at local parishes), alumni have a chance to gather and celebrate in the Christian Life of the University.
- Social
The Social Chairperson organizes parties, receptions, gatherings and other events. He/She will work with the Alumni Office to provide such activities as Happy Hours, Oktoberfest, Pumpkinfest, family cookouts, Groundhog, sporting events, and receptions to bring alumni together.
- Academic
The Academic Chairperson seeks to provide events and opportunities that connect Alumni with the academic nature of the University. He/She will organize lectures, keep alumni informed, for example, about Art Exhibit Openings and Receptions, Drama Productions, Musicals, Book Clubs and other academically-related endeavors.
- Service
The Service Chairperson develops ways for alumni to reach out to the community, making contributions of time, food, etc. He/She will identify key alumni to volunteer for such efforts, as well as identify programs and institutions in need of service or donations of clothing or other resources. He/She will work with the Alumni, Campus Ministry and Student Life Offices.
- Students
The Students Chairperson develops ways to involve alumni in both prospective student and current student affairs. He/She will identify volunteers for such recruitment activities as college fairs, receptions, scholarship interviewing, etc. He/She will also seek ways to incorporate alumni into current student affairs, such as New Student Orientation or the 'Ask an Alum' mentoring program.
- Communication
The Communication Chairperson relays information to the alumni from the Chapter and the University, and vice versa. He/She will have a wide base of contacts and help establish and maintain connections between the Alumni Office and alumni, via email correspondence, web site updates, phone trees, etc.
