Richard L. Strockbine

Dick Strockbine has held the position of Athletic Director at the University of Dallas since January 1995. Prior to his arrival on the Irving campus, Strockbine was Athletic Director at the University of Maine - Fort Kent.
He is a graduate of Bethany College, West Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History as well as letters in football and baseball. He later received his Master of Arts degree in International Relations from Webster University.
Strockbine is a 22 year veteran of the United States Air Force with key assignments as a Minuteman II intercontinental ballistic missile flight commander in the 564th Strategic Missile Squadron and as executive officer of the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Korat Air Base, Thailand and the 341st Strategic Missile Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana. While in the service he played football at Moron Air Base, softball at Bunker Hill Air Force Base, soccer at Korat Air Base, Little Rock Air Force Base and in Bangkok while assigned to 7/13th Air Force at MACTHAI Headquarters. He also coached basketball at Bunker Hill Air Force Base and Moron Air Base.
His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon, Combat Readiness Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Ribbon with five bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
His collegiate career includes stops at Connecticut College, Incarnate Word College, St. Mary's University in San Antonio and the University of Maine at Fort Kent. As a soccer coach he holds a 92-79-1 career record, including five wins over NCAA Division I opponents, with Heart of Texas Conference championships in 1987 and 1988 and an NAIA District 4 championship in 1987. He started the men's soccer program at Incarnate Word and the women's program at St. Mary's. He was a Heart of Texas Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 1991 and NAIA District 4 Co-Coach of the Year in 1992.
Currently he is a member in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Division III Athletics Administrators Association. He also belongs to the NCAA Division III Management Council, where he serves on the Championships Committee and the Nominating Committee. He is presently active as the President of the organization of NCAA Division III Independents and served a four year term as NCAA Division III representative to the Olympic Sports Liaison Committee.
A native of Port Washington, New York he is married to the former Debra A. Dixon of Tampa, Florida. They currently live in Carrollton with their son Alexander. The couples 3 other children live throughout the United States. Erich resides in Dallas, Christopher lives in Irving, and their daughter Jennifer lives in Nashville. The couples fifth child Richard is deceased.
MEN'S BASKETBALL AND GOLF COACH

Brian Stanfield came to the University of Dallas in the summer of 1999 from Lawrence, Kansas. In his first season, he inherited a group of Crusaders that finished with a 12-12 record, which, at the time, was the second best season in the history of the school.
Since that year, the Crusaders have experienced two 18 win seasons, one NCAA D-III National Tournament appearance in 2004 and a runner-up finish in the USCAA National Tournament in 2001. After eight seasons at the helm, Stanfield’s record stands at 111 wins and 121 losses (.476). During the 2006-07 season Stanfield recorded his 100th win at the school. He holds the schools' coaching victory record at 111, 47 in front of coach Jake Bethany.
Since his hire in 1999, Stanfield has also been the head coach of the UD men's and women's golf teams.
A graduate of Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, Stanfield played basketball on teams that made two national tournament appearances before graduating with a double major in Biology and Physical Education. He holds a Master’s in Exercise Physiology and Sport Psychology from Kansas University. A Springfield, MO native, Stanfield played high school basketball for his father, Gary Stanfield, where the two combined for a 5A State Championship during the younger Stanfield’s junior season.

MEN'S SOCCER COACH

In 2003 David Hoffmann was lured away from in-state rival Schreiner University. Since his arrival to the University of Dallas as head soccer coach, Hoffmann has seen a great rise in soccer participation through his tireless efforts as a recruiter. In 5 seasons, Hoffmann has posted a 56-26-5 record as head coach. He possesses a significantly better 53-13-4 mark since the arrival of his first recruiting class. He was recently selected as the National Coach of the Year by the Association of Division 3 Independents.
Before coming to UD, Hoffmann held the position as head coach at Schreiner University for four seasons, where his men's team produced three consecutive NAIA Sectional Finals and a record of 33-40. Hoffmann’s teams have produced 17 Academic All-Americans, the NSCAA award for the highest team GPA, and numerous player awards and professional tryouts. He was the Director of both Mountaineer Soccer Camps and Elite Soccer Camps. On the club level he founded the Highlanders Soccer Club in which he held DOC and master coach responsibilities from 1997-1999. In the year of 2000 he took over the role of DOC for the San Antonio Strikers Futbol Club, the largest men’s club soccer organization in San Antonio. Currently, Coach Hoffmann works with the DFW Tornados '92 and '89 girls teams, as well as being involved with North Texas Soccer ODP. Hoffmann holds a NSCAA Advanced National Coaching Diploma with Distinction, USSF "Y" National Youth License, and FA Soccer Psychology Certification.
Coach Hoffman has been involved in soccer either as a player or coach since 1977. David grew up in Colleyville and played for N.E.T Longhorns and Fort Worth United. While playing at Grapevine High School, he won a State Championship in 1990. He was a 4-year starter and senior captain at St. Mary’s University. He also played semipro for the South Texas Eagles. Playing honors include North Texas State Pool All-Region, All-State, State All-Star, and team MVP. Currently, David resides in Highland Village with his wife, Tricia and newborn daughter, Trinity.

BASEBALL COACH

In his second year at the University of Dallas, Coach Strockbine led the team to a 19-17-1 record. The 2007 team was led by seniors and AD3I All-Independent first team members Chase Violette and Fraser Holmes. Violette was also named to the ABCA's NCAA DIII All-West Region Team. In two seasons at UD Strockbine is 38-32-1.
Prior to his employment at the University of Dallas Strockbine served as assistant football coach at Beloit College, and assistant track and field coach at Beloit Memorial High School (WI). Strockbine competed in football and baseball at Beloit College lettering 4 years in football and was named the Most Improved Player in baseball for the 2001 season. In addition he played two summers in the Dallas Amateur Baseball Association. In High School he was an all-state selection in football and baseball. Coach Strockbine is also a veteran of University of Dallas baseball clinics, having been involved as a counselor since 1998.
While serving as an assistant at UD in 2004 Strockbine oversaw the catchers, while serving as the team's hitting coach. Strockbine's hopes to use his areas of expertise to bring UD baseball to new heights.
Strockbine graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Beloit College.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

Jennifer Fleming was hired as the new women’s basketball coach in an announcement in June of 2007. After her first season she set the record for the most wins in a season with a record of 14-13(.518). This record was formerly held by Chris Hill with 13 wins in the 2003-2004 season.
Fleming’s most recent stop came as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for DI Army from 2004-2007. During the 2006-07 season she assisted the Army team to school records for the most victories (24) and longest winning streak (12). Prior to her stop at the USMA, she was the assistant head coach (03-04) and assistant coach (02-03) at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
ATHLETIC TRAINER
Contact Meaghan Murphy: meaghan@udallas.edu Meaghan Murphy came to UD after her official hiring in September 2005, via Syracuse, NY. The Syracuse native's work history includes serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for Kenmore East H.S. in Buffalo. While in Buffalo, Murphy also was employed as a Certified Athletic Trainer at the Athleticare Outpatient Clinic.
Meaghan first got involved into athletic training by serving as the Student Athletic Trainer at the University at Buffalo. At Buffalo she worked for Division I-A programs in football, men's basketball, and baseball. Murphy eventually became the Head Student Athletic Trainer of track & field and women's volleyball. She also gained valuable experience under a Certified Athletic Trainer, assisting athletes with rehabilitation programs, and performing modalities such as electric stimulation and hydrotherapy. By April 2004 she was NATA-BOC certified, New York State Licensed, and certified by the American Red Cross in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
After graduating from the University at Buffalo, Murphy served as a student intern for Athleticare at East Aurora High School and with Partners in Rehab in East Aurora. She gained additional experience working area competitions such as the University at Buffalo's baseball and basketball camps and the Junior Olympic East Diving Championships. She also demonstrated her commitment to community service by volunteering for groups such as the St. Francis House where she helped care for terminally ill patients. Murphy graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelors of Science degree, focusing on Exercise Science and Athletic Training. She later obtained her master's degree at the university.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE COACH AND ASSISTANT WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH

Elia Kochan finshed her second year as Head Coach of women's soccer and lacrosse at the University of Dallas. After the soccer season, she has a two-year record of 13-21. With the hire of Ryan Reedy as the Head Women's Soccer Coach in February of 2008, Kochan is now able to focus solely on the women's lacrosse program at UD. In her first season as a head lacrosse coach, Kochan finshed the season 2-11. After the conclusion of a 2-12 2008 season, Kochan holds a two year record of 4-23 for a winning percentage of .148. She will stay involved with women's soccer as an Assistant to Reedy.
Kochan's last stop was at Division III SUNY Oswego as the Interim Head Coach of women's lacrosse and field hockey. At the New York state university, Kochan took over both programs after serving as a lacrosse assistant in 2005. Kochan also served as a Health Promotion and Wellness Instructor at Oswego.
A Liverpool, NY native, Kochan was a Division I scholarship player at Syracuse University where she earned a Bachelor's degree with a dual-major in Fine Arts and Art Education. She was a recipient of the Syracuse University Dean's Academic Scholarship and was named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star in 2003.

SPORTS INFORMATION DIRECTOR

Ryan Frey was hired in mid August 2005 to serve as the Sports Information Director and Cross Country and Track & Field coach and at the University of Dallas. The Marshall, WI native attended Beloit College where he played safety on the school's football team before his career was ended due to health issues. At this time he stayed involved as the team’s equipment manager, where he learned valuable information about proper training and conditioning for athletes. Frey also hopes his years of experience in athletic media relations will benefit the University of Dallas Athletic programs, and the school in general, as Sports Information Director. He previously spent time as Assistant SID at Madison Area Technical College, a sportswriter for the Beloit Daily News, and as an Assistant Archivist at Beloit College where he focused on historically important athletic stories related to Beloit and its surrounding areas.
Frey led the men and women's Cross Country and Track teams' to success before turning over the reins to current coach Troy Thrasher. Frey earned his Bachelor of Art degree in History and a minor in Political Science from Beloit College in 2003.
SOFTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL COACH

In her third season at the helm for the UD softball team, coach Hanson and her underclassmen dominated squad finished 13-17. In three seasons as the head softball coach Hanson has a 42-52 record.
In two seasons as the volleyball coach, Hanson's teams went 35-38. Hanson's volleyball coaching highlight was during the 2006 season when the team went on a 11 match winning streak to end the year.
No stranger to success in her days as a Trinity University softball player, Coach Hanson hopes to continue that success as the head coach of softball and volleyball. As co-team captain her senior year, Coach Hanson was part of the Trinity softball team that won a conference championship and finished 19th in the nation. Upon graduation she held the record for single-season runs, career runs, stolen bases, walks and is second all-time for hits. She earned All-Conference honors three times at two different positions in her collegiate career. Coach Hanson was also an academic All-American, showing her commitment to excellence in athletics and academics. Coach Hanson earned her degree in Political Science at Trinity University in San Antonio. A native Texan, Coach Hanson is excited to return to her home state after completing a Fellowship in Washington D.C. and working for the Family Research Council.
WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH
Ryan Reedy first came to the University of Dallas as a student in 2001 and began his illustrious soccer career that fall. While attending Dallas, Reedy was a four year starter and letter winner for the men’s soccer team, as well as team captain during his senior season. Reedy’s many accomplishments during his playing career at the University of Dallas include team MVP in 2004, USCAA Academic All-American during the 2003 and 2004 seasons, and 2003 CoSida Academic All-District VI College Divisions Men's Soccer Team.
In the spring of 2005, Reedy graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in History and is currently pursuing a MA in Humanities at the University. He currently works at the University of Dallas’ Due Santi campus in Rome, Italy as a Rome Coordinator and has been there since January 2007. The spring 2008 semester will be his last semester in Rome as he will return to Irving to coach the women’s soccer team in the fall. Reedy is also currently engaged to be married in August to Ellen Flannery, a fellow 2005 graduate of the University of Dallas.
With the arrival of Reedy in the fall of 2008, the University acquires a very experienced soccer coach. He was the University of Dallas Men’s Soccer team assistant coach from the summer of 2005 until December 2007 when he left to work in Italy. He was also the assistant coach for the club soccer team DFW Tornadoes during the same period and earned his North Texas State ‘D’ Coaching License.
Elia Kochan, the former women’s soccer coach, will remain at UD as the lacrosse coach and will also assist Reedy. Reedy looks forward to starting his NCAA coaching career at his alma mater in 2008 and is excited to compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with 10 other division 3 private schools. Austin College, Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Colorado College, DePauw University, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Rhodes College, Sewanee-University of the South, Southwestern University, and Trinity University round out the prestigious conference.
ASSISTANT VOLLEYBALL AND ASSISTANT SOFTBALL COACH

Eric Miracle came to UD in 2006 from Capital University in Columbus, OH where he was an assistant volleyball coach for 2 years. Miracle helped lead Capital to its first Ohio Athletic Conference tournament championship, first appearance in the NCAA D3 Tournament, and an overall record of 57-11 over 2 years. He also coached 2 AVCA All-Americans, and 7 all-conference players while in Columbus. Eric is now in his 4th year at the NCAA D3 level, and has coached volleyball for over 8 years. Eric began his coaching career at Thomas Worthington High School in Worthington, OH.
Miracle graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Education, majoring in coaching and recreation management, and will finish a M.B.A. in Sport & Entertainment Management at the University of Dallas in 2008. Eric’s playing experience spans 17 years, beginning with USA Volleyball, a stint with the OSU club team, and continues by playing on club teams from Texas and Atlanta. Miracle is involved extensively at the junior’s level with club and camps, and currently coaches for Fusion Volleyball Club in Frisco.
In two seasons as assistant volleyball coach to Rachel Hanson, Eric has a 35-38 record.
ASSISTANT BASEBALL COACH

Andrew Ravaglia was hired in mid-March as the new pitching coach at the University of Dallas. Ravaglia’s background as a former UD baseball player (2nd base and catcher from 1997-2001) and experience with pitchers provides the UD baseball coaching staff with experience on developing young arms.
Prior to his hire at UD, Ravaglia was the assistant head coach at Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge, LA. The New Orleans, LA native also served as the head baseball coach at St. Edmund High School (Baton Rouge, LA) from 2005-06, was an assistant coach at Holy Cross High School (New Orleans, LA) from 2004-05, and was an assistant coach at St. Bernard High School (Bernard, LA) from 2001 to 2004.
During his playing career at the University of Dallas as a 2nd baseman and catcher, Ravaglia was named the teams’ Most Improved Player on the 2000 American Southwest Conference Championship team. His familiarity with the University of Dallas will only aid Ravaglia in recruiting and understanding of UD athletics.
Ravaglia has worked the UD and Holy Cross High School baseball camps and was the director of the St. Edmund High School baseball camp.
Ravaglia graduated from UD with a B.A. in History in 2001 and resides in McKinney, TX.
CROSS COUNTRY, TRACK & FIELD, AND ASSISTANT MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

Troy Thrasher has been named the new coach for the cross country and track and field athletic programs. The Kansas native has been involved in coaching for more than 15 years, with his most recent position as the head basketball boy's coach for Sacred Heart High School in Salina, KS. He also has experience coaching women’s basketball and golf.
His coaching experience and leadership skills as a former teacher will take the Crusader running programs to new heights.
Thrasher was a member of the United States Navy before graduating from Emporia State University in 1994 with a B.S. in physical education with an emphasis in coaching. He earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Wichita State University in 2002.
ASSISTANT MEN'S SOCCER COACH
Brian Byrd has been an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team under current head coach David Hoffmann since 2002 season. The two originally met due to their coaching positions with the DFW Tornados and have been instrumental in the team’s recent success.
Byrd joined the DFW Tornados in July of 1996, after being involved in the soccer world as a player or coach since 1976. He has played locally for the Dallas Longhorns, the Dallas Hornets, and the Dallas Titans. In high school, Byrd played for the Mansfield H.S. soccer team, where he was voted First Team All-District and All-Region. After high school, he went semi-pro, playing for the Arlington Arrows, the Fort Worth Kicks, and the L.A. Salsa.
He also has coached the Mansfield Mustangs, Sportif F.C., and has been a camp director for Techniques Soccer Camps. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Fort Worth Country Day School before becoming the head coach for the girl’s team. That experience eventually led to him becoming the head coach of the Grapevine High School varsity girls. Byrd currently holds a Texas “D” State license and an NSCAA Advanced Regional Diploma. Beyond assisting Hoffmann for the University of Dallas, he holds an assistant coaching position with the DFW Tornados Men’s PDL team.
