Mens Soccer Home Page
The mens soccer team finished the 2007 season with a 17-1-1 near-perfect record. Starting and finishing the season with extended game-winning streaks, the Crusaders established a success rate that resulted in the team winning the Association of Division III Independent Regional Championship. Senior defender Jared Lee (Grapevine, TX/Grapevine H.S.) was named the tournament MVP, while sophomore midfielder Matt Stamper (Bentonville, AR/Bentonville H.S.), junior forward Adam Lunger (Keller, TX/Keller H.S.) and junior midfielder Stuart Brown (Boerne, TX/Boerne H.S.) were named to the All-tournament team.
Lunger achieved a career highlight this season by scoring his 100th point during the match-up between the Crusaders and the Illinois College Blue Boys. He also broke two university records with his 57 career goals and 135 career points.
At seasons end Lunger, Lee, Stamper, Brown, and freshman midfielder Ryan Meske (Niwot, CO/Niwot H.S.) were named to the AD3Is All-Independents mens soccer team. Lunger was chosen as the Associations offensive player of the year as well as a first team forward, Lee was a first team defender, Brown a first team midfielder, and Meske the co-Rookie of the year and second team midfielder.
Adam Lunger and Jared Lee were both selected to the NCAA Central Region team.
Adam Lunger and Jared Lee were also voted to the D3Kicks.com Central Region team.
Records broken during the 2007 season were team wins (17), winning percentage (.921), shutouts (10), and coaching wins (17) by David Hoffmann.
Junior midfielder/defender Bennett Rawicki (Bakersfield, CA/Garces Memorial H.S.) was named CoSIDA Academic All-District.
Lunger, along with midfielders Matt Stamper, Ryan Meske and Stuart Brown were named AD3I players of the week. Adam Lunger received the award twice.

Final NCAA Division III Statistical Standings: The team finished in 3rd place among NCAA Division III teams with a .921 won-lost-tied percentage, 5th place with 3.74 points per game, 6th place with a .880 save percentage, 13th place with a .52 goals against average, and 32nd with a .53 shutout percentage.
Adam Lunger finished 19th among NCAA Division III players with .89 goals per game. He also finished 22nd among NCAA Division III players with 2.16 points per game.
Brandon Washatka finished 20th among NCAA Division III players with .63 assists per game.
Senior midfielder Rob Burton (Round Rock, TX/Stony Point H.S.) finished 49th among NCAA Division III players with .47 assists per game
Chris Sumcizk (Grapevine, TX/Nolan Catholic H.S.) finished 10th among NCAA Division III players with a .875 save percentage. He also finished 14th among NCAA Division III players with a .542 goals against average.
Crusader Men's Soccer Program History
Soccer began as a varsity sport in 1975 coached by Hank Meinster, opening with a 1-1 draw against Hardin Simmons. Currently the team competes at the NCAA Division III level as an independent. Home matches are played on campus at Crusader Field. As an independent, the team competes throughout the region, with recent travels including, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
Program highlights include a 14-win season in 2001, a USCAA Championship in 2002, and 10 players recognized as Academic All-American from three different organizations. Most recently, the 2007 season with a 17-1-1 near-perfect record.
