2007 Season Summary
The Crusader Volleyball team enjoyed an exciting season and saw several players post solid numbers. Two team members broke university records: Senior Sheilah Jennings’ (Albuquerque, NM/St. Pius X H.S.) 1100 career kills established a new record and freshman Celina Farrell (Corinth, TX/Lake Dallas H.S.) set a new precedent for block assists in a season with 79.
Freshman libero Kelli Fuentes (Garland, TX/Rowlett H.S.) enjoyed a outstanding first year and was twice named the AD3I player of the week. Fuentes was also named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 Dig Club as well as a member of the Roanoke Maroon Classic All Tournament team. In addition, she led the team with 585 digs.
Senior Captain and outside hitter Sheilah Jennings was named to the University of Dallas Invitational All Tournament Team and Team MVP for the season. She also was also named to the AD3I Honorable Mention All-Independent team.
Senior Captain and libero Megan Brittain (Sanger, TX/Sanger H.S.) succeeded in being named to both the University of Dallas October Volleyball Festival All-Star Team as well as the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 Dig Club.
Junior setter Krysta Hample (Loveland, CO/Loveland H.S.) was also named to the University of Dallas October Volleyball Festival All-Star Team and led the team with 81 service aces.
Also worthy of note: Junior setter Scarlet Walls (Garland, TX/Rowlett H.S.) finished the season with a team leading 845 assists.
Celina Farrell finished the season with 316 kills and 108 blocks in 131 games.
Team Captains: Scarlet Walls, Sheilah Jennings, and Megan Brittain.
The team was coached by Rachel Hanson and assisted by Eric Miracle.

Crusader Volleyball History
Volleyball began as a varsity sport in 1974, coached by Paul Swegler. Currently, the team competes at the NCAA Division III level as an independent, and has had winning seasons 7 out of the last 10 years.
In recent years the team has traveled to California, Florida, Colorado, Tennessee, Maine and Illinois for matches against other NCAA Division III schools. This year the team will travel to Ohio, Virginia, and Arkansas. In addition, the team hosts the University of Dallas Volleyball Festival in early September each season. Home matches are played on campus in the Maher Center.
