Student Programming for the University of Dallas is proud to host the 2010 Bradford Debate, a contest of minds held annually in honor of the late M.E. Bradford, Professor of English at UD. This year's debate will be on the following resolution: "Resolved: That the United States should create a legal path to citizenship for undocumented aliens with extended tenancy." Dr. Richard Dougherty, acting Chairman and associate professor of Politics at UD, will be debating Dr. Matthew Wilson, associate professor of political science at Southern Methodist University. Senior history major Chris Wester will moderate the debate. The 2010 Bradford Debate will take place on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 5:00pm in the Art History Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

The Politics Department will present a panel discussion titled "Politics on the Precipice: Current Concerns in American Public Life" on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m., in the Haggar University Center, Upstairs Dining Room. A wine and cheese reception will follow at 5 p.m. While the panel draws its title from President Obama's recent statements about health care reform, the discussion will not be limited to a single policy topic. UD Politics Professors Leo Paul De Alvarez, Richard Dougherty, John Grant, and David Upham will discuss issues each as the fiscal crisis and the Obama administration's foreign policy.
