The Catholic University for Independent Thinkers
The Commencement ceremony is held annually in May for all undergraduates, and graduate degree recipients of the Braniff Graduate School and School of Ministry. Students who have completed all degree requirements in August or December are also eligible to participate in the May ceremony.
Students declare themselves Bachelor's degree candidates and their intention to participate in the May Commencement ceremony by completing a formal degree plan and application for degree. It is the student's responsibility to verify that all graduation requirements as published in the University bulletin have been met. As an aid to verifying their status, students must complete an official degree plan review and degree application form within a calendar year of their expected graduation date.
Master's or Doctoral degree candidates planning to participate in the May Commencement ceremony must submit a graduation petition to the appropriate graduate office. Questions about degree requirements in the Braniff Graduate School should be directed to Concetta Nolan at cnolan@udallas.edu or 972-721-5106, or in the School of Ministry to Lilli Winstead at (lwinstead@udallas.edu) or 972-721-5814.
Degree candidates have the opportunity to update their contact information, provide the preferred pronunciation of their names, and be measured for caps and gowns. Candidates who cannot be measured at the times indicated by the Registrar's Office may be measured for their cap and gown, update their contact information and indicate preferred name pronunciation at the Registrar's Office during regular business hours or submit their orders and measurements on separate forms provided for that purpose. Forms submitted after noon on March 22 are subject to a late fee.
Graduate announcements are ordered on-line directly from Herff Jones.
Candidates may pick up their caps and gowns on Wednesday, May 8, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in Lynch Auditorium and Thursday, May 9, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Registrar's Office. Undergraduate degree candidates must complete the senior exit survey before receiving their regalia. Students not able to pick up regalia at the designated times should contact the Registrar's Office at 972-721-5221.
