B.A. English & Drama 2010
Alan has taken the not-graduate school route after graduating and has worked a series of odd jobs, including medical technician, paint crew, and jewelry shipper. Between jobs he bicycled with his brother from San Francisco to Baker, Nevada (700 miles), where Alan scored a job as a trail builder for in a national park. After living in the mountains for the summer he moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he works, writes, and makes theater.
"What has helped me in all my endeavors is the clear ability to read and write that UD hammers into your head. It's a gift that you can take to any profession requiring an intelligent use of language, which, let's face it, is all of life. It has been a real joy applying my education to those things which I read on my own. I am now working for the “You Heard It Here First” podcast, and I am Managing Editor for Stage Door Dish where I write about theater in New York. I write plays and poems for publication. And I'm still doing odd jobs for rent."
