Dr. Marti Jewell Receives Award from National Association of Lay Ministry
Dr. Marti Jewell, assistant professor of theology in the School of Ministry, was one of the recipients of the Spirit of the Conference award given by the National Association of Lay Ministry on June 3 during their 35th annual conference in Indianapolis.
The award was presented to three important contributors to the development of lay ministry in the United States: Mr. Lucian Roy, Dr. Marti Jewell, and Dr. Edward P. Hahnenberg. All three awardees are leaders in the discussion about the Catholic Church’s understanding of the role of laity and the future of ministry.
According to Dr. Jewell, “I have had the opportunity to work with wonderful colleagues across the country as we have explored the future of parish leadership, and having that work recognized was an honor.”
Dr. Marti Jewell is an authority on the changing nature of parish leadership. Her talks, articlesand books are helping to shape the discussion about the future of parish and parish ministry. From 2003-2009, Jewell shared her expertise as the National Association for Lay Ministry’s Director of the Emerging Models of Pastoral Leadership Project, a national research project studying excellence in parish leadership.

Professor Lyle Novinski Honored by Korean Women's International Network

Lyle Novinski, professor emeritus of art, was honored by the Korean Women's International Network during a luncheon commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. He served in Korea from 1954-55 and as a result, has an original exhibit of 40 photos of Korean culture, landscapes and his fellow soldiers. The exhibit, assembled for UD, has traveled to various venues.
