Eligibility:
- Students who have applied to the University of Dallas and have an interest in continuing their study of German may compete for the award.
- Applicants shoud be prepared to demonstrate their reading and speaking ability in German.
To Apply:
- Apply for admission to the University of Dallas.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from your high school or college German teacher.
- Schedule an on-campus interview with the German Department by filling out a registration form for either the Odyssey Days Program or a Personalized Visit, here.
- Write a letter of interest stating your prior experience with the German language.
- Complete the Special Award Program Application and submit it at least two weeks prior to your campus visit and interview. Please be sure to mark the envelope or email "Special Award Program Application."
Renewability Criteria:
This scholarship is renewable annually and available to you during four consecutive school years, dependent upon your academic performance and the criteria stated below.
- Maintain full-time academic status each semester by earning at least twelve UD credit hours per fall and spring semester and earning at least twenty-seven UD credit hours per annual review period (defined below).
- Demonstrate a cumulative UD G.P.A. (grade point average) of at least 3.000 on the annual review date.
- Complete at least four courses above the Intermediate I level.
- Begin German courses during the first semester freshman year, and take at least one course each semester attending the Irving campus until the minimum is reached.
- Meet with the German Advisor each semester for approval of your course schedule until you have achieved the minimum course completion requirement.
- Help organize at least one extra-curricular activity per semester that is of interest to students of German.
