Certified Professional in Learning and Performance

It seems every profession has a certification. Why do all these certifications exist? In a word: CREDIBILITY!

The ASTD Certification Institute built the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance" (CPLP") credential to provide a way for workplace learning and performance professionals to prove their value to employers and to be confident about their knowledge of the field.

If you have at least three years of industry-related experience and education, plus the desire to continue your professional development and prove your value, then consider the CPLP" credential.

What is CPLP?

CPLP is a credential for learning and performance professionals offered by the ASTD Certification Institute. It is broad-based and addresses nine areas of expertise as defined by the ASTD Competency Model.

  • Designing Learning

  • Improving Human Performance

  • Delivering Training

  • Measuring and Evaluating

  • Facilitating Organizational Change

  • Managing the Learning Function

  • Coaching

  • Managing Organizational Knowledge

  • Career Planning and Talent Management

  • The model provides a strategic road map for today's successful learning and performance professional By earning your CPLP, you let employers know that you are not only dedicated to continuing your own education but also to providing the highest-quality learning programs.

    The CPLP certification includes:

  • an experience requirement-candidates must have at least three years of work-related experience.

  • a knowledge requirement-candidates must pass a multiple-choice, computer-based exam that covers the nine areas of expertise of the ASTD competency model

  • a performance requirement-candidates must supply a work product from their work history that illustrates how they put their knowledge into action.

Use this certification as a device to distinguish your experience. By earning the CPLP designation, you present organizations with a reliable indicator of knowledge and on-the-job performance

    Who can apply?

Professionals in the learning and performance field who have a minimum of three years related work experience may apply, though five or more is preferable. Take the CPLP Readiness Assessment to help you decide.
