Human Resource Competency Development Program

In Partnership with Dallas HR

A task force comprised of University of Dallas Professors and SHRM Learning Instructors has created a series of seminars designed to build the skills, knowledge, and expertise of HR professionals within each competency. HR professionals can develop their competencies in any or all of the focuses by completing courses in the HR Competency Development Program offered by the University of Dallas Center for Professional Development.

The program offers flexibility in that participants can attend an entire domain series or attend a few courses from each domain. Each course is a stand-alone module and can be taken in any order that is appropriate for an individual's development priorities or that best fits their schedule.

Discover how influence is effective in situations that vary depending upon the levels of power and authority held by the participants. Discuss the reasons that influencing is consistent with contemporary workplace practices that stress teamwork, collaboration, and cooperation. Learn the advantages of obtaining commitment to action plans rather than simple compliance. Build and practice a five-step model for influencing others applied to an actual situation that you have been, or will be involved with. If human resources professionals are to play a meaningful role in the strategic management of an enterprise, they must understand how their organizational performance system works, how long term vision and strategy is developed and translated into meaningful measures, and how goals are aligned, integrated, and communicated throughout the organization to ensure success.
