University of Dallas Launches Progressive New MBA Curriculum

New Curriculum Combines Practical Business Knowledge with Individual Leadership Development and Real-World Experience

The Graduate School of Management (GSM) at the University of Dallas (UD) is introducing a new, mission-driven curriculum for its Dallas MBA program that will prepare graduates to thrive as ethically responsible leaders who can work, manage and lead in today’s increasingly complex, global economy.

The new curriculum builds on the school’s history of providing a practitioner-based business education that offers a rigorous set of industry-specific courses as well the relevant skills necessary for today’s competitive marketplace. GSM will launch the new curriculum beginning with the 2008 spring trimester, which starts January 12, 2008.

“The redesign of our Dallas MBA program represents the cutting-edge of graduate business education,” said Dr. Frank Lazarus, president of UD. “Our goal is to provide students with a common body of business knowledge and the intensive, practice based management training and experience necessary for effective managing and decision-making in their particular fields of interest.”

According to College of Business Dean J.Lee Whittington, "the curriculum redesign was spearheaded by an interdisciplinary task force of GSM faculty who went ‘full court press’ to develop this progressive new MBA model. In doing so, our faculty demonstrated the same flexibility and responsiveness required of our graduates in today's fast-paced business environment. This is just another example of our faculty practicing what they teach.”

The new curriculum emphasizes value creation and the integration of ethical issues in the new core courses, while retaining industry-specific concentrations and the unique Capstone Experience course – which requires students to engage in an applied research and consulting project for a local organization.
