Food for Fines

Do you owe book fines in the library? Would you like to clear those fines and do a good deed -- all at the same time? Well, now’s your chance!

The William A. Blakley Library, along with Campus Ministry are sponsoring the 2nd annual Food for Fines. From April 10 - 21, patrons of the William A. Blakley Library are invited to help the community and themselves by donating non-perishable food items in lieu of paying library fines. Donated items will benefit the North Texas Food Bank and Holy Cross Catholic Church food pantry.

For each non-perishable food donation you make, we’ll reduce your fines by $1, to a maximum of $20. Just bring your donations to the Circulation Desk at any time during regular hours.

Soup, canned meats, canned vegetables and fruits, cereals, dried fruits, canned juices, paper and cleaning products, personal hygiene products (soaps, toothpaste, etc.) evaporated and powdered milk, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, baking mixes, pasta, and rice are particularly needed.

For more information, please contact Cherie Hohertz, Access Services Librarian, at 972-721-5040 or via email.
