Library Policies

In order to provide the best environment for research and studying, the Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library has established policies for the use of its facilities and materials.

The Circulation policies outline checkout procedures, loan privileges, and the fines and fees structure, as well as general guidelines for checking out materials from the Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library.
The collection development policy is intended to provide guidance, within budgetary and space limitations, for the selection and evaluation of materials which anticipate and meet the needs of the University of Dallas community.
The Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library has specific policies regarding borrowing and research requests and needs of distance education students.  The information in this policy determines how students request Blakley library materials and scans from library materials.
The Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library considers gifts of original materials, books, personal libraries, and other printed items that fall within the scope of our collection. Donation procedures are included in this policy.
The Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library provides printing services for all library patrons. This policy outlines printing costs and restrictions.
The Library's reserve system is intended to give students easy access to supplemental class materials. This policy outlines information about the physical reserve system.

The Cowan - Blakley Memorial Library protects library collections from removal of materials based on personal bias or prejudice. This policy outlines the procedures for registering an objection to specific library materials.
The University of Dallas is a private, Catholic, co-educational, liberal arts university.  As a courtesy and public service, the Cowan-Blakley Memorial Library welcomes guests into the library Monday - Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. Entry into the library is not permitted to guests evenings and weekends. Guests are expected to abide by our Guest Policies.
