Getting ready to start your first semester at UD? Here are a few things to take a look at before Orientation.
New Student Paperwork:
New 'confirmed'* students will receive a letter directing them to a web page containing information on additional forms required by the Office of Student Life. Some forms pertain to the basic necessities while other forms assist with a smoother transition to college life. Questions about the forms may be directed via e-mail

or by phone call to 972-721-5323.
(*'Confirmed' students are applicants who have been accepted at UD and who have 'confirmed' they will attend UD by sending in the $400 General Deposit.)
Alcohol Education Program:
This online program will soon be available to new spring students. A direct link will be provided from the New Student Forms web page when available.

General Information on Residence Life
Laundry:
Laundry rooms are located in each residence hall. Residents are charged a 'Laundry Fee' upon registration so there is no cost at the machines. Students must provide their own laundry detergent.
Telephone Information:
There is one phone jack in every residence hall room. However, should you wish to have an active land line in the room there is an an additional $50 per semester charge. The link to an online request form is available upon request from The Office of Student Life.
Student Insurance:
All degree-seeking full-time undergraduate students (except non-resident aliens with F1 visa status) are automatically enrolled in a student health insurance plan. Additional information is available

Meal Plans @ UD:
All campus residents are required to participate in the meal plan. New students may opt for either the 19 meals per week plan or the 14 meals per week plan. For more information click

Hoping to go to Rome next year but don't have a passport? Apply for one now!
A passport valid until September 2014 will be needed.
Check the expiration date, or apply for a passport now.

Shipping:
Are you flying to DFW, but have too many things to carry with you? New students may ship boxes to themselves to pick up when they arrive.
Just be sure to head down to the Printing and Postal Office located in the basement of the Haggar University Center once you arrive, and ask for the packages in your name. Be prepared to show your University of Dallas Student ID card.

Lodging for Out-of-Towners:
Several area hotels offer special rates to UD families and guests. Check out our

Please note that some of the hotel information may not be current. We recommend calling the hotel to verify current rates.
Private Transportation:
Students are welcome to have their own vehicle and park it on campus. However, all vehicles parked on University of Dallas property MUST be registered with the University. Vehicles must be in operating condition with current state registrations, inspections and tags in order to be registered on campus. Registration stickers are available 24 hrs daily from the
Campus Safety Office
located on the first floor of the Haggar University Center.
All Irving campus student’s vehicles must be registered with Campus Safety and display a valid University parking permit decal. All students with vehicles are required to pay a non-refundable parking permit fee to park on the Irving campus. To register a vehicle and purchase a parking sticker, students must go

AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM CAMPUS SAFETY
The University has implemented an emergency notification system that sends voicemails, text messages and e-mails to students, faculty and Staff in the event of an emergency. Members of the UD community are able to quickly receive notifications, instructions and updates during campus emergencies, ranging from weather-related closings to unique emergency situations where time is of the essence. You are strongly urged to visit the UD Web site and logon to BannerWeb

to provide your CELL PHONE, E-MAIL and other vital emergency contact information. The notification system is only as useful as the contact information people provide.
Public Transportation:
Students without personal vehicles have the option of using the public transportation system. The DART system (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) has a bus route with a stop at our campus. You can check out the schedule and also read about the future rail line with a planned stop at the UD campus

Payment Questions:
An Accounts Receivable Specialist in Student Services can help make arrangements for tuition management, help settle your balance, or address any questions you may have concerning your latest statement. Please call at 972-721-5144.
Personal Finance
:
Our Business Office will cash students' personal checks for amounts up to $200. The Business Office cannot accept third-party checks. We are not affiliated with any bank and do not provide checking or savings account services and other bank specific services. There is a generic ATM machine located in the Haggar University Center, near the bookstore. This machine is
not
affiliated with any specific bank so a small service fee is charged. If you wish to set up an account with a bank, a list of local banks is provided on the parent resource page

If you are wondering which classes you should take, or have questions about degree plans or your faculty advisor, the Office of the Dean of Constantin College will have an answer for you. You may call that office at 972-721-5108.

New Student Move-in:
The Residence Hall opening date for new spring 2012 residents is Sunday, January 15, 2012. Please also note that new students are
required
by the state of Texas to submit proof of immunization against Meningitis. Requests for exemption must be directed to the state.
Additional details will be provided upon confirmation of acceptance to UD.
Getting to campus:
In preparation for the University of Dallas DART light rail station, scheduled to open in 2012, the roads on the north and east perimeter sides of campus will be impacted by construction. GPS or online directions/maps may not have the absolute latest construction and detour information. Before beginning your trip, please take a look at the most up-to-date roadway information via the links below.
