Philosophy and Letters Academic Honesty Policy

University of Dallas students expect and receive the highest quality of education. In turn, all University of Dallas students are held to high standards of academic conduct. As both candidates for the Priesthood and University of Dallas students, Philosophy and Letters students are expected to maintain a level of academic honesty that reflects both their religious vocation and their status as University of Dallas students.

It is thus vital that all assignments and other work submitted for assessment follow the University's code on academic honesty.

With regard to written work, even the appearance of plagiarism must be avoided. Whether a paper is a research paper or not, any and all sources consulted or used must be cited, whether these sources are (i) quoted, (ii) paraphrased (iii) used only for ideas.

Students are on notice that Philosophy and Letters & Pre-Theology students are under a policy of "zero tolerance" towards plagiarism and that the program's Director will advocate the harshest penalties (including expulsion from the university) for any offence of plagiarism or academic dishonesty, whether committed within the Philosophy and Letters studies or in another department of the University.

Please consult the University of Dallas Bulletin for policy on Academic Honesty.
