Our fall 2014 Romers arrived early on August 22nd and were greeted in Fiumicino Airport by Assistant Dean Ryan Reedy and the Student Life staff. The students were shuttled by bus to campus and arrived travel-weary but thrilled at the first sight of their new home! The students settled in, explored the campus grounds (including a vineyard, pool, pergola, and soccer field!) and began orientation.
In the evening, the students were invited to the celebration of the Mass and an Opening Convocation held in the amphitheatre, where they were offered words of wisdom from Dr. Peter Hatlie, Director of the Rome Campus, Msgr. Fucinaro, Rome Campus Chaplain, and Mr. Ryan Reedy, Assistant Dean. The Rome staff welcomed the students with insights on what they will encounter in their Rome semester, from academic and intellectual enhancement, to spiritual growth and cultural immersion. But words can hardly begin to describe the wonderful new opportunities our students will experience over the next four months! After Convocation, students enjoyed their first sit-down Italian meal on the lawn, complete with four-courses and a magnificent sunset!
