After getting a start on their classes, the Spring Romers learned how to use public transportation to get into Rome on their own. Despite light rain, they competed in a scavenger hunt organized by the Rome Assistants. After meeting up as a group at St. John Lateran, teams raced through Rome, locating as many important monuments, historic streets, and interesting people as they could.
The day ended at a local restaurant on the shore of Lago Albano. The students enjoyed a dinner of local fare that included porchetta (roasted pork—a local specialty from the Castelli Romani), fresh grilled vegetables, buffalo mozzarella, brick oven pizza, and, of course, tiramisu.
