The Rome Summer Session, 2010


In Summer 2010, the University of Dallas will pilot a Summer Rome program. Designed as an an alternative for students unable to participate in the traditional Fall and Spring Rome Program and/or a supplement to the Fall and Spring Program, the Summer Program will be offered on the Eugene Constantin Rome Campus at Due Santi.

The curriculum of the Summer Program will conform to the broad aims of the Rome Program while presenting new course offerings which meet the Core requirements or requirements for graduation for all students in Constantin College and the College of Business.


Dates:
The program will run for six weeks. Tentative dates are May 20 - July 1, 2010. For a tentative calendar, visit this page.

Costs:
Approximately $7,500 will cover all costs including airfare, tuition for six credits,
room and board, day trips, some overnight trips to Florence and other locations within the
term, entrance fees, and fees. Incidental spending money and an optional one-week trip
after the term will be additional.

Location:
Classes will be held at the University of Dallas Rome Campus at Due Santi,
Rome, Italy. Day trips and two overnight trips will be scheduled to sites related to the course material.


Courses to be offered on the Rome Campus in Summer 2010:

History 2302, Western Civilization II, taught by Dr. Thomas Jodziewicz
Students who have already earned credit for Western Civilization II will register for a 3000-level history course which will provide three credits towards the 38 hours of upper-level coursework required for graduation.

Biology 3348, Darwin, taught by Dr. Margaret Brown Marsden
This fulfills the Life Science Core requirement and provides three credits towards the 38 hours in courses numbered above 3000 or above required for graduation.

Application Procedures:
Students may apply for Summer 2010 instead of or in addition to the Fall or Spring semester-long Rome Program.

  • Those who have already applied for a Rome semester program for 2009-2010
    need to request and submit a "Semester Add/Change Form" to the Rome Office.

  • Those who have not applied for any Rome semester should submit a Rome
    application by visiting this web page where you can select "Summer 2010" as an answer to "Which semester are you applying for?"

    Admissions Requirements:
    Summer students are subject to the same admission requirements at Fall and Spring Rome students. Click here to review those requirements.

    Application Timetable:
    Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the summer of 2009. Please check the Rome Office webpage for updates on the application timetable. Students will be notified of acceptance status some time during the summer.

    Course Registration Requirements:
    All students will register for six credits, two courses.

    Financial Aid:
    Traditional Financial Aid applies to two terms in a year. Hence for the Rome Summer program, students will only be eligible for outside loans. Faculty/staff tuition waivers will apply.
