Active participation in clubs and organizations is stressed for all students to develop their leadership and interaction skills outside the classroom. Students are encouraged to get involved and even form new clubs if the clubs currently in existence are not meeting their interests or needs. In the last five years we have doubled the number of active student organizations from 25 to approximately 50. Click here for a list of the Clubs and Organizattions that are currently registered with the Office of Student Activities.
Steps to Starting a UD Club or Organization
- Step 2: Using the Sample Constitution as a guide, develop a Constitution and By-Laws for your Organization. Items that must be included in this document are:
1. Purpose of the organization 2. Procedure for election and removal of officers 3. Prerequisite of qualifications of membership 4. Proposed means of financial support of the organization
Information that must be turned in with the proposed Constitution is:
1. A list of proposed activities for the first year 2. A list of officers (temporary or permanent) 3. The name of the organizations sponsor(s)
- Step 3: Return all of the above materials to the Director of Student Activities and schedule an interview.
- Step 4: From the Student Activities Center, your charter will begin to travel through the governance structure. Be prepared for comments and suggestions for changes at each step before final approval may be granted. You will be notified in writing by the Student Activities Center once the process has been completed and your charter has been approved.
