International Student Housing
(Non-undergraduates)
This page contains basic on-campus housing information for international students that are not enrolled in the undergraduate program.
Off campus housing assistance is not available from the Office of Student Life.
Across the street from campus, Tower Village Apartments is accepting applications on a 'first come, first served' basis. Otherwise, there are many other apartment complexes within a short drive of campus. These may be researched via any number of online apartment locator services.
AVAILABILITY
On-campus housing for international students is limited to summer terms only due to the residency requirement for undergraduates during the normal academic year. Also, keep in mind that this information applies to residence hall rooms for single students only. No apartments or housing for families is available.
- Summer: (late May to mid August) One undergraduate residence hall is available for enrolled summer students. This hall is co-ed by floor. Male residents live on the first floor and female residents live on the second floor. No single rooms are available in the summer hall. Food services resumes at the beginning of the official summer sessions. In mid-August (for 2008 the date is August 15th) ALL halls close at the end of the summer two session. ALL remaining residents are required to vacate by midnight that Friday, the last day of summer classes. Sorry, no exceptions.
BASIC PROVISIONS
Rooms: Nearly all rooms in the halls on campus are 'double' rooms designed for two residents. All rooms have standard twin-size (39" x 76") beds, desks, and closet and drawer space for each resident. Rooms have sinks with storage space underneath, a medicine cabinet, and limited book shelving. Bathrooms are on each floor. Housekeeping service is provided for the common areas ONLY. Residents are responsible for the upkeep of their own rooms. Luggage may be stored in the common storage room during the academic year only.
What to bring: Click here for a list of what you will need in your room upon arrival.
Telephone: There is one phone jack in every residence hall room. Students share the line and must provide their own telephone and anwering machine. Local (metroplex)calls are free. For long-distance calls, plan on bringing your own phone card or cell phone.
Laundry: Card-operated laundry rooms are located in each residence hall. Laundry cards may purchased from the dispensers located outside of the Office of Student Life in the Haggar University Center. Cards cost $2 and can be recharged as needed. Card dispensers accept cash and credit. Students must provide their own laundry detergent.
Computers: Students are welcome to bring their own computers with them. PC's or notebook computers are fine. We recommend ethernet cards and cords for those who want to take advantage of the high-speed Internet access available to each resident in each residence hall room. There are also several wireless hotspots located in common areas such as the Library and Cappucino Bar for those who prefer wireless Internet access.
The University has several computer labs for student use located in the Haggerty Science Center.
Fitness Center
Mail: All enrolled students may request an on-campus mail box assignment at the Post Office located on the lower level of the Haggar University Center.
Bills: Upon confirmation of a housing assignment, students will automatically be billed in the Business Office from the date of arrival to the indicated date of departure. After arrival, payments may be made directly in the Business Office located on the first floor of Carpenter Hall. Should a student depart earlier than originally indicated, the student will receive a partial credit based upon the departure date. After departure, student accounts will automatically be billed for non-return of any issued key or room damages.
