Why We Do What We DoWe believe that learning is enhanced by the sense of community which develops when students live and study on campus. The University of Dallas is committed to establishing a continuity between intellectual and residential life. Living on campus contributes to the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of the individual student and the community as a whole. The University NORMALLY requires matriculated undergraduate students under the age of 21 or with fewer than ninety earned credits hours to live on campus. However, for the 2008-2009 academic year this requirement is temporarily suspended for students who will have junior (sixty credit hours ) status. Students who fall under the residency requirement must actually reside on campus. Married students, veterans, and commuter students living with their parents at home are exempt from this policy. Students that wish to apply for an on-campus student apartment should have a minimum of 30 credit hours for the 2008-2009 academic year. Only complete groups will be considered for the student apartments during Housing Registration. Residence Life OptionsResidence HallsThe University of Dallas has seven undergraduate residence halls. Six of the halls are two floors, with common hallways on each floor, common bathroom and shower facilities on each floor, a lounge/TV area and a laundry room with card operated washers and dryers. Two halls are one floor, with a common hallway and one common bathroom and shower facility. Every hall has kitchen facilities. Halls vary in size from 31 to 96 residents. The halls are directly supervised by Resident Assistants and Residence Coordinators. The majority of rooms are double occupancy. However, single, double, triple, and quad rooms are available to non-freshmen. All freshmen living on campus are placed in standard double rooms with a freshman roommate. All rooms have twin-size (39" x 76") beds, desks, and closet and drawer space for each resident. Rooms have sinks with storage space underneath, a medicine cabinet, and limited book shelving. Housekeeping service is provided for the common areas. Residents are responsible for the upkeep of their own rooms. Luggage may be stored by current residents in the common storage room during the academic year. Discover MoreReady to find out more about residence hall life at UD?
