Serra Club Activities
The premier event of the two local Texas dioceses is the annual Vocations Awareness Program Weekend scheduled each summer during the month of July, at Holy Trinity Seminary, Irving, Tex. Young Catholics in their late teens and up to their 30s are invited to a three-day program to help them discern if they might have a religious vocation.
There are several workshops led by priests, brothers, and sisters that offer glimpses of what life is like as someone devoted to a career of serving the Church. Much time is spent in one-on-one consultations with members of the clergy. Prayer sessions also help the young man or woman decide to look more into a religious vocation. Local parishes invite likely candidates to attend this event. Pastors must approve attendance of any parishioners interested in taking part in this V.A.P. weekend.
Sisters Appreciation Event,a fall get-together honoring religious women, offers a chance for relaxation, food and drink, and expression of appreciation as Dallas Diocese Serrans act as hosts.
