The Serra Club Mission

Though there has been some slight increase in the number of young men reporting to seminaries in the United States, there still is much work to be done to replace aging priests and to extend the word of Christ to all who want to hear it in this country and abroad. The situation is much more acute as one sees few young women willing to commit to a life as a sister of some religious order.

Prayer can be of enormous help to seek greater numbers of Catholics anxious to serve their Church. (See suggested prayers later in this site.) But prayer must be augmented with good works to convince youths that a life as a priest, brother, or sister is full of rewards. Along with many other Catholic organizations, Serra actively recruits candidates for the priesthood and religious life in addition to encouraging those already serving.
