What should I bring?

Pack a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, personal items, a couple changes of clothes, and anything you would normally need for an overnight stay.

Overnight visitors should be prepared to sleep on the floor of their host’s bedroom and to share communal bathrooms.

Note: Hosts may have obligations including a class, studying, club meetings, and even work study positions on campus while hosting a prospective student. It is suggested that overnight visitors bring homework, reading, and a flexible attitude for the visit.

The overnight stay includes at least three meal tickets for you to enjoy meals in the dining facility.

Overnight visits are during the academic year only (September-April).

Due to limited space, we are unable to provide on-campus accommodations for family members or friends accompanying prospective students. Family members or friends who need a place to stay can take advantage of arrangements we have made with several specially selected area hotels for UD visitors. Guidelines for setting up an overnight visit:

  • Overnight visits are available Sunday through Thursday nights, October through April - no weekends unless during an Open House).
  • Request your visit at least two weeks in advance.
  • Overnight visits are scheduled in conjunction with our current calendar. We may be unable to accommodate requests for specific dates due to breaks, long weekends, campus events, etc.

    Overnight Visits will not be available:
  • November 22 - 25 (Thanksgiving Break)
  • December 14 - 20 (Final Exam Week)
  • Summer
