Departmental Scholarships

Eligible high school seniors and transfer students may apply for amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 per year. 

  • Students must apply for admission to the University of Dallas. 
  • This distinguished departmental recognition can be added to any academic scholarship and is renewable for up to eight semesters.
  • Although many applicants may be qualified in multiple subject areas, each student may only apply for one award.
  • Students are not required to major in the selected department to receive or maintain the scholarship (with the exception of Chemistry/Biochemistry).
  • The application deadline is December 1.Most departments have the ability to host in-person interviews through November 18. If you are not able to attend an in-person interview and campus visit, you will be required to attend a virtual visit experience on Saturday, December 12. You will also be required to conduct your interview virtually.  
  • Departmental scholarship funds can be applied toward any university charges.
  • Although not all scholarships require it, if you plan on interviewing during a personalized visit, please submit all materials and your complete application at least two weeks prior to your visit.

How Do You Build the Perfect Sandcastle?

According to a team of University of Dallas juniors, there's an optimal water-to-sand ratio, roughly 6%, along with a borrowed methodology that's endured the test of time dating back to the relics of the Old Kingdom. The students' research, titled "The Best Sandcastles Are Egyptian: Pyramids Reign Supreme," was awarded a Meritorious designation in the International Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) -- a first in university history.
