Lay Catholics

Although the name may be deceiving, the University of Dallas Ministry Conference is not just for those who do professional or volunteer ministry, such as priests, religious, catechists, teachers, diocesan workers, etc. Instead, UDMC offers something for every Catholic who wants to become more knowledgeable in their faith and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The conference is a great way to join in fellowship, faith sharing, and prayer with the Catholic community of North Texas.

Relevant Tracks

If you are interested in participating in the conference as a Catholic parishioner, we encourage you to check out the following tracks, which are relevant to every Catholic:

  • General Faith Formation (scripture, apologetics, spirituality, evangelization, science & religion, etc.)
  • Justice & Service Ministry
  • Liturgy, Sacraments & Music Ministry (includes RCIA)
  • Marriage & Family Life
  • Technology & Media

General Faith Formation

They feature talks that discuss family life, marriage, parenting, social justice, faith formation, scripture, and Christian spirituality. You can see what sessions are offered in each of these tracks by visiting the Sessions page, and sorting by the Track column.

Other Benefits

Besides the relevant talks available at the conference, many other happenings occur at this three-day event which are enriching for every Catholic. The conference features musical performances by up-and-coming and popular Catholic artists, a liturgical art display, and exhibitors who offer Catholic gifts, books, and information.

Teachers & Catechists

Attention Catholic School Teachers and Catechists! Receive continuing education credit for attending the ministry conference!

The Diocese of Dallas can issue continuing education credit hours to Catholic school teachers, directors of religious education, and parish catechetical leaders for participating in the University of Dallas Ministry Conference. They can also issue credit hours towards the Catechetical Certification Program to catechists.

Catholic School Teachers

Continuing education credit can be granted to Catholic school teachers from the Diocese of Dallas who choose to attend on Thursday or Saturday (in addition to the mandatory in-service day on Friday) and provide documentation of their attendance to their respective school. These credit hours, if granted, could be used toward the annual requirement for professional growth to strengthen competence.

Parish PCL/DRE and Parish Catechists

The parish PCL or DRE must register you as part of you respective catechetical group. He or she will in turn verify that you have registered and attended the ministry conference. Then the PCL or DRE will submit a list of UDMC attendees to the respective diocesan catechetical office, requesting catechetical continuing education credit for you. Up to 5 credits per day could be granted. For more information, contact your PCL/DRE.

We urge any Catholic school teacher or catechist who has registered individually to make sure that your respective school principal or catechetical leader knows of your attendance.

School Board & Advisory Council Members

The University of Dallas Ministry Conference will host a special session for all Catholic School Board and Advisory Council members of the Dioceses of Dallas.
