Program Director: Scott Wysong, PhD

Scott Wysong, PhD

Scott Wysong has been involved in teaching, researching and consulting in sports, entertainment and hospitality for over 20 years. 

Since 2002, Dr. Wysong has been a member of the International Association of Venue Managers and  consulted with their Academy for Venue Safety and Security for a number of years.

Wysong has also gotten students involved in volunteering for the Super Bowl, Final Four, NBA All Star Game, NHL All Star Game, NCAA basketball championships and numerous other events. In addition, he has taken classes to New York City, Los Angeles, Santa Fe and Puerto Rico to meet with NBA, NFL, MSG, U.S. Open (USTA), William Morris, Home Depot Center, Disney and MLB executives over the years. 

Sports, Entertainment & Hospitality students have worked on class projects for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars and American Airlines Center among many others. 

Dr. Wysong has presented his research findings on sports, entertainment and hospitality at conferences in Cambridge (UK), Heidelberg (Germany), Porto (Portugal), Copenhagen and Barcelona. He has also twice been a Visiting Artist at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. 

Dr. Wysong holds a BA in Economics from Vanderbilt and an MBA and PhD in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and his consulting company, Wysong Brand Solutions, performs economic impact studies for sports/entertainment events such as the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, Taylor Swift 1989 Tour, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation and the Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau to name a few.

One of the prime advantages of the Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas is quality education created for the working professional. The Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business uses a trimester system, with fall, spring, and summer terms to allow for accelerated time to completion. Classes are offered in an evening format at our Irving campus or online. 

For international students, it is a distinct advantage to attend classes with current working professionals in the field where they aspire to work. Upon graduation, students may apply for the 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT).
