Groundhog 2023 Party in the Park will be on February 4th, 2023. 

Groundhog Rules

  • Ticket AND Groundhog Sweatshirt ARE REQUIRED for entry. There will be a University of Dallas student sweatshirt and a non-student sweatshirt (Parents, alumni, faculty, staff). Sweatshirt pickup details will be sent at a later date.
  • Tickets AND sweatshirts are non-transferable.
  • State ID is required to enter the park.
  • If you are 21 years of age or older, you must receive a wristband prior to entering the Park.
  • You cannot obtain a wristband in the Park. If your wristband tears, you must bring the old one and get a new one at the entrance of the Park.
  • No admittance after 11 p.m. There will be no re-admittance at any time.
  • No bags, purses, or containers (including flasks) of any kind. Clear bags will be admitted after a search. 
  • Those publicly intoxicated will not be admitted to the event.
  • Public intoxication will result in removal from the event. The University Alcohol Policy remains in effect.
  • No refunds.

Groundhog 2023 FAQs

When and where is the rugby game?

The rugby game is at 2 p.m. on the McNab Rugby Pitch.

How can I sign-up for the 5k?

You can sign up for the Groundhog 5k in the J.M. Haggar University Center foyer Wednesday-Friday the week of Groundhog.

Can I only purchase the sweatshirt if I don't want to go to the Party in the Park?

We are not selling the sweatshirt without the ticket. Plus, we'd love to have you at the Party in the Park!

Where can I park for the Party in the Park?

You may park anywhere on campus in a non-reserved parking spot. The lot directly in front of Catherine Hall will be reserved for Tower ticket holders who are also attending the Alumni dinner. These ticket holders can begin parking in this lot at 11 a.m. The parking lot between Groundhog Park and Madonna Hall will be closed starting Friday at 3 p.m.

How do I enter the park?

There will be two entrances into the park: (1) Students, (2) Alumni, Family, Faculty & Staff. The park will open at 8 p.m.  To enter the park, you must have your Groundhog sweatshirt, ticket, and state ID. 

How do I buy a ticket?

You may buy a ticket online until January 22th. Tickets are limited.

I bought a ticket online. Where do I pick up my ticket and sweatshirt?

Students will pick up their sweatshirts in the office of student affairs.

Alumni, Families, Faculty & Staff will pick up their sweatshirts on the first floor of Cardinal Farrell Hall.

Can I bring a bag into the park?

No bags, purses, or containers of any kind will be allowed into Groundhog Park. Clear bags and Diaper bags will be permitted after security searches your bag.

Can I smoke in the park?

Yes, you may smoke in the park. 

What is included in my ticket?

  • Student Ticket
    • Admission to Groundhog Park, Sweatshirt, unlimited food and beer.
  • Alumni/Family Ticket
    • Admission to Groundhog Park, Sweatshirt, access to the alumni tent with unlimited food and beer.
  • Faculty/Staff Ticket
    • Admission to Groundhog Park, Sweatshirt, access to the alumni tent with unlimited food and beer.

Is there a tiered pricing structure?

No, there are three ticket types based on your affiliation to UD only: (1) Students, (2)Alumni/Family, (3) Faculty/Staff. Please only purchase a ticket from your selected affiliation's page.

 I want to go to TGIT. Anything I need to know?

We will wristband all people over 21, so please bring your state and student IDs to TGIT. We will announce Groundhog King and Queen at 10 p.m. There will also be a beer tasting event from before Groundhog TGIT. Tickets will be $5.00 per person at the door. Join us Feb. 2 for Beer Tasting from 8-9 p.m. and TGIT from 9 - midnight.

Can you ship my sweatshirt to me?

No, we will not be shipping sweatshirts this year.
