The program provides a cost-effective solution for corporations, non-profits, and governments that lack the time, budget, or human resources to address specific strategic initiatives. Consulting projects are carried out by teams of students working under the supervision of advisers with extensive consulting and project management experience.

The Capstone Experience Timeline.

Capstone projects are completed during a 12-week period in either the fall, spring or summer. Below is a typical timeline:

Phase Details
Phase I (before the semester begins) Professor meets with the client to go over the parameters and cost of the project.
Phase II Professor assigns students to the project. Each team of students elects a team leader and assigns other roles as necessary.
Phase III The team of students meets with their client to understand the client’s needs.
Phase IV The team writes up a project proposal or scope of work to ensure that the client and team both understand the deliverables to be presented at the end of the 12 weeks.
Phase V The team works on their project with the guidance and feedback of the professor.
Phase VI The team presents their report to the client.

Students in The Capstone Consulting Experience have completed over 900 projects for more than 500 companies, entrepreneurial ventures and nonprofit organizations. Typical projects include:

  • Business strategy
  • Marketing research
  • Product feasibility
  • Special management projects including operations/supply chain, human resources and industry analysis

We work with organizations from many different industries and backgrounds. These include:

  • Mid-sized organizations or a division/segment of a large organization
  • Dallas/Fort Worth-based companies (no student travel should be required to complete the course)
  • Organizations or groups facing complex, multi-functional strategic challenges
  • Self-sustaining or external funding-supported organizations

Yes. There is a nominal charge considering the number of hours our very qualified professors and talented students put into the client project.
Yes. For the Capstone, we look for a project that is strategic, has many complex parts, provides the client with actionable information and will provide our MBA students with a challenging learning experience.
Capstones are generally booked at least one semester in advance.
Yes. Maintaining confidentiality of your proprietary information is an important aspect of our work with your organization during the Capstone project. Nondisclosure agreements are available for the student teams to sign as requested.
